Happy Thanksgiving

Ahhhh My favorite holiday….lots of vegan food and time to contemplate all the good in life.  I’m thankful for Tofurkey especially – a good feast and nothing had to die.  I’m really thankful for my family and how great they are – I really do miss them.  I’m thankful for friends that I haven’t seen in decades but they still remember me and the times we shared.  Most of all I’m thankful for the ability to be thankful, to have that feeling of being fortunate, to appreciate what I have without having to compare with what others have.  As I sit and do a mindfulness of food type of meditation, contemplating all the paths and interdependencies of how this food got to my plate, I feel so grateful for it all.  We could trace all those paths all the way back to a star the supernova’d a few billion years ago and start to penetrate into the interconnectedness of everything.  Truly seeing that we are not separate from anything.

I’m also very thankful for the three jewels, The Buddha, The Dhamma, and The Sangha.  All those people who have made it at least some part of their life to continue teaching and/or helping others with the Dhamma.  I have had many teachers and mentors over the past few years – I tried to name a few but too many I’ve learned from over the years – so for now I’ll just say thanks Martin for your inspiring words and help to further many insights.  Finally thanks to everyone for anything and everything.

Gonna get some Metta Bhavana in today and see if I can share a smile with somebody who needs it.

With All My Metta…Happy Thanksgiving
